"The real treat of the day was a walk through Mayor Guilani’s iron gated City Hall Park.  There fountain, and park benches and gazebos were all covered with the 12 to 16 inches of snow that was New York’s.  Each bench, with a seat capped in snow, telling a story that I didn't know it had.  It was silent and deserted yet the newly installed gas lights and spots and ambient light made it as soft and warm as Waikiki Beach lit with a dusky sun set and tropical torches.  It was easy to linger even if the wind had turned a-biting."
