Singers 1950's Jazz, The - #234 Various 1987 Columbia 1/1/88 The technical quality of the music is the best yet
of the "Singers" album but
the styles have become more familiar and pop like in the contemporary
sense. Lots to like here and lots to
reflect on. Purchased: 1/1/88 -
Columbia House $14.99 Rated: 5 |
Sixteen Most Requested Songs/1940's Volume 1- #244 Various 1989 Columbia I enjoyed this album so much I went back and got
the next volume. It is music that I
was introduced to in the 1950's when many of my aunts were still living with
their Mother on Babcock Street in Eau Claire Wisconsin. The music is pop for all time to
enjoy. I like the moods of the South
American beats that were just introduced to America in the 1940s. Lots of great performers here. Purchased: 2/1/91 - J&R
$9.99 Rated: 4 |
Sixteen Most Requested Songs/1940's - #245 Various 1989 Columbia Brazil is my favorite of this volume but all are
wonderful pop relics of the 1940's Purchased: 4/1/90 - J&R

So Pra Contrariar Futebol Clube - #684 Various 1996 BMG This is a sports party album that reflects the
Brazilian passion for futebol - Soccer - it’s a fun album. Purchased: 10/5/97 -
Imported $18.99 Rated: 4 |
Southern Harmony, Volume One - #34 Various 1988 Arrival Not my cup of tea, it is country gospel without
much musical merit or any religious passion Purchased: 1/1/89 - Rated: 1 |
Super Personalidade - #112 Various 1988 Philips A collection of Brazilian music that, like other collections,
reflect the character and diversity of Brazilian music. It is creative an largely builds on the
Jazz traditions that American is so eager to claim as it's own. Purchased: 1/1/88 - J&R
$18.99 Rated: 4 |

Three Worlds of Triloka Collection, TheLiving Proof,
Inheritance, One World Muisic Series - #644 Various 1992 Triloka 1/1/92 A cutout but sometimes you get lucky. This has a variety of music that is
melodic and lyrical and is a form and variety of jazz that give joy and
demands my interest, at times. I
might just give it a 3 but there are some Brazilian and other
"world" instruments that make this intriguing. Purchased: 7/1/97 - Triloka
$3.99 Rated: 4 |
Ultimate Divas - #631 Various 1999 Arista 6/1/99 Wonderful songs, wonderful artists but mix just
doesn't do it. Too many varieties of
music, too many eras spanned. It covers
the 1930's through the 1990's. It
should have been a 2 CD album, or maybe more
All songs were great ones but they just don't come together like they
could. Nessum Dorma by Franklin is
reason enough, however, to get this album Purchased: 6/25/99 -
J&R $13.99 Rated: 3 |
Um Piano Ao Cair Da Tarde - #53 Various 1991 Nacional A very good jazz album that has a little of
R&B, pop and can be considered a fusion album. I like it very much. Purchased: 1/10/95 -
Imported $18.99 Rated: 4 |

Unsung Sondheim - #440 Various 1993 Varese Saraban 1/1/93 Interesting Broadway Tunes that never made a
Broadway Show. Purchased: 11/4/93 -
Columbia House $18.97 Rated: 3 |
Up Close Volume 2 - #173 Various 1990 Sheffield Lab 1/1/90 This Album was free, it is a sample of excellence
in recording. Helton brought it home
when someone bought a CD player on display at a music store but didn't take
the accessories. There is a number by
Amanda McBroom on it that blows the heart away, it is called Amanda, such a
beautiful voice Purchased: 1/1/87 - Unknown

Winter's Solstice II, A - #457 Various 1988 Windham Hill 1/1/88 Solitary and mournful music. Has the real mood of a winters day but a
depress one. Beautiful but pining for
Summer. The tone of this music
reminds one of winter and imaginations of the dark age. Not uplifting the originator but beautiful
just the same. I would not like to
listen to this one when I am down. I
would like to listen to the original any time! Purchased: 11/10/90 -
J&R $11.99 Rated: 4 |

World Of Contemporary Jazz Groups, The Encore Series - #645 Various 1990 GRP Records 1/1/90 A collection of stuff I don't like. Lots of big names here, lots of music,
lots of good technical recordings but it is too smooth, not melodic enough
and without any detectable rhythm. I
think this music was almost free with a purchase at J&R Purchased: 7/1/86 - J&R
$4.99 Rated: 2 |

World Of Private Music, The - #23 Various 1986 Private Music 1/1/85 Wonderful sample of New Age music from a prominent
label. It is a good sampler of music
we have often heard in commercial uses, the Weather Channel, Multi-media
presentations. And some music we
haven't heard at all. A good variety,
some want you to here more of the sampled albums. The best of all is that I
got it at a 'cutout' price. Purchased: 4/17/93 -
J&R $7.99 Rated: 4 |
