Heavens Are Sounding - #35

Various

1969 Musikfest 1/1/63

A Sunday morning favorite of Helton's because it has three versions of Ave Maria on it.  He loves that song.  It is a good vale with lots of famous composers packed on one disk

Purchased: 1/1/87 - J&R $9.99

Rated: 4

Heavy Classix - #177

Various

1992 Angel 1/1/92

Heavy Classics these are but it could be a lot more fun too.  Not themed enough, the mixing and song collection could go better.  Good fidelity.

Purchased: 11/12/93 - Columbia House $17.98

I Got No Kick Against Modern Jazz GRP Artis Celebration of the Songs of the Beatles- #594

Various

1995 GRP Records 1/1/95

Good music ok Jazz.  Some of the arrangements are worth a 4 but in total a pretty average album.  It is good to here all Beatles songs in Jazz arrangement done so many different ways.  Some I really like, some I really hate.  Too much smooth jazz maybe.

Purchased: 2/16/95 - J&R $12.99

A selection of Spanish Songs that are nothing but curiosities to me.  Not of any interest at all even though this music does make me smile.

Long and Winding Road, The Beatles Story, The- #531

Various

1994 Mirage 1/1/94

This is a 2 only because it is Lennon and McCartney, otherwise it would be a one.  Done in a straight forward style in typical jazz instruments but too low fidelity, too many synthesizers and boring arrangements.   Well, you can still sing along with it.  It is elevator music

Purchased: 6/1/94 - J&R $11.99

Madison Avenue Goes to the Opera - #180

Various

1989 EMI Angel 1/1/89

It's amazing.  These selections are even more famous than the ones in the Movies Go To The Opera but the album is a letdown.  Maybe movies work on human scale emotions and Madison Avenue works just to sell

Purchased: 1/1/90 - J&R

Rated: 5

Movies Go to the Opera, The - #179

Various

1988 EMI Angel 1/1/87

Somehow this recording works so very well that it crossed over into the pop selling charts.  Just goes to show you what a good mix can do.  It shows that great music placed in multiple media can endure and reach new audiences.

Purchased: 1/1/88 -  $11.99

Music From Cosmos, The - #50

First owned this in vinyl, wore it out and then it comes along on CD.  Excellent mix of all kinds of music that represents the excellence that the TV series compiled by Carl Sagan.  The series and the music are wonders.

Purchased: 6/23/95 - J&R $12.99
