Home For Christmas - #686

A gift from Willie because he hated it.  Good doo whop form an earlier time.

Songs Of Distant Earth, The - #465

Oldfield, Mike

1995 Reprise 2/6/96

Best New Age Theme album around, best listened to as a suite.  Take an hour, grab a beer turn up the volume, turn on the sub woofer and listen to this one.

Purchased: 9/11/95 - J&R $14.98

Rated: 5

Tubular Bells - #437

Oldfield, Mike

1973 Virgin 1/1/73

This album has been in about 5 music categories since it's release.  Finally, it ends up in New Age.  Original ,interesting and completely novel.  It is a curiosity that is curious to each generation since its release but really not THAT good.  Ruth Pellmann turned this on to me, and I passed it's interest on to others. Such is curious music

Purchased: 1/1/87 - J&R $12.99

All-Time Greatest Hits of Roy Orbison20 Original Recordings from the Monument Massteers - #517

Orbison, Roy

1989 CBS 1/1/89

A icon of early Rock and Roll.  Competition for Elvis, the King but better.  This man had a voice that made women melt

Purchased: 9/15/97 - Columbia House $14.98

Carmina Burana - #170

Orff, Carl

1981 Telarc 11/13/80

Wonderful Music, my kind of choral music.  Technically this is a disappointment.  The fidelity is wonderful but the range from the high volume to low volume music makes it impossible to maintain the turn volume at one level.  Good Performances.  I would rate this a 5 on music and performance alone.

Purchased: 12/16/90 -  $0.00

Relish - #498

Osborne, Joan

1996 Blue Gorilla - Mercury 1/1/195

Saw Ms. Osborne on the Grammy's nominated as best new artist, 1995.  Her performance was great.  This album does not demonstrate her potential.  Only Right Hand Man is very good on this disk

Purchased: 4/1/96 - J&R $18.98

Before The Rain - #419

Oskar, Lee

1978 Avenue 1/1/78

Owned this on vinyl since about 1982, I looked and looked for the 1st Lee Oskar album when I first came to New York.  It was out of print for a very long time.  I found this and "Before The Rain" to sate my need and until the original was released on CD.  This is fine music but strings coming  to Oskar is not the best thing that could have happened.  Good jazz here but over produced.

Purchased: 7/23/95 - J&R $10.99

Free Featuring Furasawa- #651

Oskar, Lee

1981 Avenue 1/1/81

It barely gets a 3, just because it is Oskar but there is a good number on  it and it gives some continuity to my collection and to his career.

Purchased: 8/7/99 - J&R $7.99

Lee Oskar - #417

Oskar, Lee

1976 Avenue 1/1/76

This is my favorite R&B & Jazz album and maybe my favorite of all albums.  I find it soothing, erotic, dreamy and special.  I never owned it before getting the CD.  I always listened to Gerry Ferguson's vinyl and when I left  Milwaukee in 1978, I looked for a copy of my own and finally found it in 1995! On CD's!  I've own Oskar's other music on records, then tapes and now on CD but it took me  17 years to find this favorite!

Purchased: 6/23/95 - J&R $12.99

My Road Our Road - #418

Oskar, Lee

1980 Avenue 1/1/80

Oh what a joy this was to find.  All 3 of Oskars are winners.  Still too much full orchestra, too many strings.  This could have been gutsy.

Purchased: 7/23/95 - J&R $10.99
