Just An Illusion  - #194

Najee

1992 EMI Records 1/1/92

This is smooth Jazz that is intended to sell.  To somebody.  Not me, I feel ripped off.  Saxophone this man can play but 'popped' by background and the foreground drum beat of the 1990's.  Does anyone really care about this music?  No love at all for this music, not even any 'like'

Ordered from CDNow as part of their Grammy award offering of half price winners.  This is a good album, produced with the American market in mind.  Portuguese lyrics with the English translation.  This author is a world treasure but like many authors, he cannot sing very well but give interpretations like no one else can.

Purchased: 4/10/98 - CDNow.Com $8.49

Ho hum.  It sure beats the sound of waking up to NY cars honking and trucks rumbling by.  But what good is it to have because the NY sound never goes away anyway.

Nelson, Willie

1978 Columbia 1/1/78

Willie doing Standards that are he has contributed to.  This is a great artist. I lost my original in Las Vegas in September 2000 while on Vacation with Gloria and Erv.  I liked it so much I bought it again and am I happy.  The album was re-released in 1999 with two tracks added, Scarlet Ribbons and I Can See Clearly Now.  And it was cleaned up and re-mastered.  It is a really an American Masterpiece

Purchased: 8/16/97 - J&R $9.99

Little Touch Of Schmilsson In The Night - #31

Nilsson, Harry

1973 RCA 1/1/73

American Standards from the big band era that became a hit in the 1970's.  I bought this originally on vinyl in Woolworth at my store on 35th and North Avenue in Milwaukee Wisconsin.  After sharing it with others I sold at least 10 of these albums to the likes of Ruth Pellmann, Gloria Goller, Tess Boehm, Marge McCleod, Gerry Ferguson and others.  It's produced by George Jenkins and done in faithful renditions to the original artists.  Good American Music.
