Mad Season - #721

Match Twenty

2000 Lava 5/13/00

Like it a lot, it’s on the top 10 and BuyMusic.com has it for 9.99. (Rob Thomas is the prominent vocalist; he did the Smooth vocal on Santana’s Supernatural.).    There are great production values here too; the album is an artistic accomplishment. Some country overtones here and I think you would like it too.  Rob Thomas has a Neal Diamond kind of earnestness and masculine tone you might REALLY like it.  LOL.  If you can take some rock and roll, pick it up.

McLachlan, Sarah

1997 Arista 1/1/97

Best Female Pop Vocal Performance Grammy for 1997.  A very good album.  This woman is talented and the mix is good too, less 90's than most 90.s music.  Unusual sounds in the backup.

Merman, Ethel; Vario

1973 Columbia 1/1/73

This album is not a good example of Broadway audio production but it is still excellent  It is  of interest because of Ethel Merman and her qualities do not come through at their best.  My initial take was not good, I must have been listening on a cheap stereo.  My original rating was a 2 - see it now.

Beyond The Missouri Sky - #510

Methany, Pat & Haden, Charlie

 Verve 1/1/96

Easy and nice Jazz.  I like it as a soother.  It is not a classic but good solid mood.  Lite, but not boring like Kenny G,  Grammy Winner 1997 Best Jazz Instrumental Performance, Individual or Group

Imaginary Day - #620

Metheny Group, Pat

1997 Warner Bros 10/7/97

A major disappointment.  This is a Grammy winner in 1998 and why?  It's could have been written by a computer.  The hieroglyphics on the cover are the most interesting thing about this album.  The symbols are surely a story of some kind.  Why so much effort? The entire booklet has nothing but pages of it.  No text.

Purchased: 3/2/99 - CDNow.Com $11.88

Secret Story - #314

Metheny, Pat

1992 Geffen 1/1/92

Smooth Jazz but dynamic music - insert some World Beat sounds here and there, some rhythm a few flutes, new age beats, even some violins and you are off to some interesting music.  They try very hard to be commercial here, the producers do, but artistry and novelty still show through.  It's odd though, one moment I like this album and the next I don't
