Into The AM - #685 Madison, Art 1993 JVK A cutout, somewhere between pop and lite jazz and
mostly R&B. A star hoped for
never arrived. Interesting electronic
sounds on some songs make it of interest.
It is pop stuff mixed out seemingly by machine but there is some
novelty. A Well produced album Purchased: 10/1/95 -
J&R $4.99 Rated: 3 |
Erotica - #598 Madonna 1992 Maverick 10/20/92 Common pop and a disappointment to me after I
listened to Ray of Light. I thought this
was actually the latest release, consequently, Ray of Light when I bought
it. Mistake and one I am unhappy to
have made, Purchased: 7/2/98 -

Ray of Light - #587 Madonna 1998 Maverick - Warner
Bros 3/3/98 ‘Ray’ has been reviewed well and I like a video of
one song. The first three songs are
very good but after that it is mechanical, common; a lot of techno beat. It was reviewed as ‘a maturing Madonna’
and ‘reflective’, Oh, please. Give me real reflective! This is ‘commercial’ reflective. It is overrated but almost a 4. (Moved it
up to a 4 after a number of listenings - the techno makes it that - but
barely a 4) Purchased: 6/6/98 - CostCo

Free Like We Want 2 B - #519 Marley,
Ziggy; & the Melody Makers 1995 Elektra 1/1/95 Thought I'd give it a try but should have thought
again. I guess I wanted the sound
that his Father, Bob Marley made but this is not it a bad effort. Like it Purchased: 9/15/97 -

Yellowstone, The Music Of Nature - #150 Manheim
Steamroller 1989 Gramaphone Boring. Boring Boring. Mannheim Steamroller is popular and I do not know why. The electronic music here is well, so
electronic. There seems not to be a
nuance of any humanity here. I will
pass them buy again - I just can't understand why others don't too. Purchased: 1/1/90 - $14.99 Rated: 2 |
Showstoppers - #19 Manilow,
Barry 1991 Arista 9/10/91 If you can handle Barry Manilow's nasal tone for
70 minutes this is a 5. And I can
handle his tone when it is this wonderful mix of show music. This is likely Mr. Manilow's one album
that is a masterpiece for all. Purchased: 10/6/91 -
J&R $14.99 Rated: 5 |
Deliver - #342 Mamas &
Papas 1967 MCA Records 1/1/67 Some say this is their best outing. It is beautiful, harmony and vocal blend
the best of their careers. This is
the one where Mama Cass shines, takes hold and exerts her lusty voice. She is the force that makes this
successful. Listen and you can hear
it. Purchased: 10/2/93 - $10.99 Rated: 5

If You Can Believe Your Eyes & Ears - #337 Mamas &
Papas 1966 Dunhill 1/1/66 This album was a musical revelation for me. It is
a lamp post that lights my transition to adulthood. I didn't know pop music could be so beautiful until I heard
this album. I remember the first
moment I heard California Dreaming on WLS radio out of Chicago, I remember Tom Randall telling me "I just
knew you would have that record" as we listened to it while playing
Hands Down. I remember listening to
the Album the first time in my college Dorm room, I was growing up, this was
part of my adult awakening. Purchased: 1/1/85 - J&R

Mama's and Papa's - #338 Mamas &
Papas 1966 Dunhill 1/1/66 The 2nd album, just as good as the first but
somehow some lost steam in vocal togetherness, still, beautiful. You can imagine changes in personal
relationships because the voice dynamism has changed. All most a 4 but not quite. Purchased: 1/1/85 - J&R
$10.99 Rated: 5 |
Presented By The Mama's and Papa's - #343 Mamas &
Papas 1968 Dunhill 1/1/68 This is the swan song for the group. Oh what wonderful music they made for the 4
years that they recorded. John and
Michelle went on for years into drugs, Cass got famous by herself and
died. Where is Denny Doherty? 4 albums all very good and then end it. No
one has come close to this music in all the time Purchased: 1/1/85 - J&R
$10.99 Rated: 4 |
