Delta Meets Detroit: Aretha's Blues - #615 Franklin,
Aretha 1998 Rhino 1/13/98 Why didn't I see this music from Aretha Sooner? It
is a compilation of music from Aretha's catalog. A composite of works
over a lifetime. But Aretha has had
two lifetimes of success so who is to say this is some of here bet. It is good stuff. Blues she does and she does it well. Some second renditions of songs that were
her hits on this one make it an especially interesting. This woman is indeed THE diva of R&B
and Soul. Purchaed: 3/2/99 -

First 12 Sides, The; Great Aretha Franklin, The Great Areath
Franklin- #653 Franklin,
Aretha Columbia 1/1/72 This woman is a miracle. Here she sounds a little like Billie Holiday and a little like Diana
Washington. It is a group of songs that do not sound like
Aretha before she found her own voice but she still sounds wonderful. Purchased: 8/7/99 - J&R
$7.99 Rated: 4 |
I Never Loved A Man The Way I Love You - #85 Franklin,
Aretha 1968 Atlantic 1/1/67 This album sounds like a greatest hits album to
me. Gerry Ferguson and I always
talked about what a classic this was going to be. Is it now? Maybe not to
others but it is to me. I can do nothing but respect this woman and I think
she is now better with age. After much of her miserable life is behind her
she is a diva and THE diva of soul and R&B Purchased: 12/8/88 - $10.99 Rated: 5 |

Rose Is Still A Rose, A - #616 Franklin,
Aretha 1998 Arista 3/10/98 An Aretha comes through here that I have not heard
for a long time. There is the old soul
that she screamed to fame with. It is
the R&B of the 90's here, the beat is in the foreground but I get used to
it here. She is first rate on this
music. Glad to have it. Purchased: 3/2/99 -

Blue Pacific - #443 Franks,
Michael 1990 Reprise 1/1/90 Boring. If
there were a way to get rid of producers and let artists make music I would
do it. This recording is engineered
for "contemporary sound" rather than for music. Will producers learn that artists make
music? Purchased: 8/1/91 -
